Looking for an all-in-one spot to enjoy tasty baked goods while sipping on a refreshing cocktail? Look no further than LeoGreta’s latest expansion.
The Italian restaurant in Carnegie opened a bakery and dessert bar next door to its space. The new addition had its grand opening Wednesday morning.
“This gives people a chance after dining in the restaurant to pop over to have dessert and a drink,” general manager Jonathan Wells said.
Pastries offered range from cookies, cheesecake, cake by the slice, muffins, vegan options and more. The drink selection includes coffee, lattes, cocktails, draft beers and wine.
By noon, Wells said the restaurant had seen 25 to 30 people check out the new spot. He said social media has driven lots of people to come out in addition to regulars who were excited about the opening.
“It’s been pretty good so far,” he said.
Dave Miles, a frequent customer, lives across the street from the restaurant. He said he was eager to try out the space when he saw the signage for it.
“I wanted to check out their coffee,” he said. “It’s really impressive.”
Elizabeth Markar said she enjoys LeoGreta’s food and was happy to see another option for late-night drinking after dining.
“They didn’t disappoint at all,” she said.
Pastry chef Danielle Gibson pitched the idea of offering a unique concept to serving desserts and pastries. She said the idea was a hit, but COVID-19 delayed their plans to execute it a couple of years ago.
Gibson said the idea of the bakery and bar was to offer a homey environment for patrons.
“We wanted to make the space more chill and relaxing,” she said.
While the space is brand new, Gibson already has more ideas to help elevate it. She said she hopes to add ice cream to the dessert line.
“That will wait until we get into a groove,” Gibson said.
LeoGreta’s bakery and dessert bar is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, visit thebakeryanddessertbar.com.
