The Allegheny County Health Department shut down a mobile food truck in Monaca and posted a consumer alert at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Wilkins for multiple food safety violations.

Steve and Benny’s Chicken Shack at 1032 Pennsylvania Ave. in Monaca was closed for operating without a health permit, lack of a water supply, and lack of a probe thermometer to monitor food temperatures.

The food truck must remain closed until the problems are fixed.

The operator of the business could not be reached for comment.

At Popeyes at 3420 William Penn Highway, the fast food restaurant was cited for an active roof leak above the food storage and dish washing areas, and for improper sanitization of food contact surfaces.

Shift manager Alvin Santa said Monday that the problems have been fixed and the restaurant is waiting for a reinspection.

Inspection reports for permitted food facilities in the county are available at eapps.alleghenycounty.us/restaurant/.
