A new bar in Oakland — Panther Pit Sports Bar — was closed by the Allegheny County Health Department over the weekend for health code violations.

Some of the problems included damaged sewage piping and a “strong odor of sewer gas,” according to the inspection report.

The facility also was cited for a lack of hand-washing facilities.

“Hand sinks for the first, second and third floor bars not accessible and/or not stocked with soap and paper towels. No way for bar staff to wash hands,” the inspector noted.

The operator of the business at 226 Meyran Ave., which opened in September, could not be reached for comment.
