Mia Pizza in Bloomfield was hit with a consumer alert by the Allegheny County Health Department after an inspector found nearly two dozen food safety violations, including mouse droppings in the kitchen.
Droppings were found on pizza pie plates, multiple shelves and throughout the front counter.
“Single service items covered in rodent droppings near the employee bathroom. Hobart mixer covered with rodent droppings,” the inspection report stated.
Other violations included lack of proper refrigeration, foods held at unsafe temperatures, failure to monitor food temperatures, failure to date mark foods and lack of a food safety manager.
Cleaning and sanitization problems included employees not washing their hands, soiled food contact surfaces and lack of chemical sanitizer in the three compartment sink.
The inspector also found spoiled chicken wings in the walk-in cooler, according to the report.
A man who identified himself as the new manager of the Baum Boulevard restaurant declined to give his name and declined comment Wednesday.
