A Pennsylvania woman has sued rocker Axl Rose and his band, Guns N’ Roses, alleging he threw a heavy stage microphone into the crowd at a concert and it hit her, breaking bones in her face and causing other injuries.
Sarah Brown, who lives in Hummelstown, Pa., filed the complaint Thursday in federal court in Pittsburgh.
It wasn’t immediately clear why the case was brought in Pittsburgh as opposed to the Middle District of Pennsylvania, where Brown lives and where the concert occurred.
But the suit is being handled by Edgar Snyder & Associates, and some of the promoters and agents connected to the band’s tour apparently have Pittsburgh connections, according to the lawyers.
Besides Rose and the band, the defendants are Gundam Touring Services, an outfit called Team Brazil and Live Nation Entertainment.
The incident happened at Hershey’s Hersheypark Stadium, which is run by Live Nation, on July 31, 2021.
During the show, Rose threw a heavy microphone into the crowd. It hit Brown in the head and hurt her, she said.
Rose has done that before and caused injuries, according to the complaint.
The suit says Rose and his handlers were negligent, knowing that the microphone stunt was dangerous.
Brown said the microphone broke bones in her face, cut her scalp and caused a concussion and nerve damage. She said she’s been permanently scarred.
“Axl Rose knew or should have known that throwing a microphone into a crowd would cause bodily harm,” the suit says.
The complaint is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
