Those of us who’ve been on strike at the Post-Gazette for nearly 10 months are learning what it takes to maintain such an action: lots of solidarity from a variety of supportive communities and individuals.
We were reminded of this fact Wednesday when we received these delightful pictures from two different labor gatherings — the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance convention in Seattle and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement “Together Towards Tomorrow: Trabajadores para un futuro justo” convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The images remind us we are not alone. Striking members of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh and the PG’s other four unions are proud to be part of a growing movement of workers from several industries and professions (the long list includes baristas, actors, locomotive builders and museum workers) standing up to create more equitable workplaces for everyone.
We especially thank Sabrina Liu and Jessica Ríos Viner of the Pittsburgh chapters of the APALA and LCLAA for sending us the photos.
