Drivers will face as much as a month of traffic and sidewalk restrictions on the Homestead Grays Bridge beginning Monday.
The good news is the restrictions will be limited to nonpeak traffic hours.
Allegheny County, which owns the bridge, said it will have periodic lane and sidewalk closures until sometime in September. Crews will work two shifts so restrictions will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays.
The county said the work will involve the bridge’s expansion dams and deck repairs. The bridge connects Route 837 with Browns Hill Road and serves as a major connection to the Parkway East.
The county said traffic will be maintained in both directions during the work. Drivers should expect delays on and near the bridge during work hours and should use caution in that area.
Pugliano Construction Co. Inc. of Plum has a $949,663 contract for the work.
The PUP is the publication of the striking workers at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
