There should be fewer traffic disruptions this weekend. Here are the highlights:
- McKnight Road – The highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Ivory and Roseland avenues from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The restrictions will allow crews for Lindy Paving Inc. to make repairs on the highway’s bridge over Nelson Run Road. The work is part of PennDOT’s $27 million project to upgrade McKnight Road from Venture Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side to Perrymont Road in McCandless. Work should be done next spring.
- Interstate 79 – Northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in Kennedy and Robinson from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. The restriction will occur where the highway crosses over Campbells Run Road, just north of the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh exit. Crews for Golden Triangle Construction Co. will conduct concrete overlay work during the restriction. The work is part of a $15 million project to improve the highway between the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh interchange and a half-mile north of the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton interchange, including six ramps at Route 60 and four ramps at I-376, that will last through spring 2025.
- Interstate 79 – Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, the northbound off-ramp to Neville Island will close through Nov. 25 while crews for Lindy Paving Inc. repair the deck. The detour will have traffic continue on I-79 to the Route 65/Emsworth/Sewickley exit and keep left toward Glenfield, turn left on Deer Run Road and left on southbound I-79 toward Washington to Route 51/Neville Island exit. The work is part of the $44 million project to completely reconstruct the road surface and rehabilitate five bridges above Route 51 and Clever Road, an area known as the S bend, and three ramps at the Route 51 interchange. The project lasts through late 2025.
