Limited extra road work is scheduled this weekend, but there are still some areas to avoid if you can.
Here’s the rundown:
- Parkway East – The highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction from the Business Route 22 exit in Wilkins to the bridge over Sunset Drive in Monroeville from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Sunday. The restriction will allow Swank Construction Co. crews to pave the roadway with asphalt. The work is part of a $70.1 million improvement project between Churchill and the Route 48 exit in Monroeville that will last two more years.
- McKnight Road – Repairs on the bridge over Nelson Run Road will limit traffic to one lane each way between Ivory and Roseland avenues on Pittsburgh’s North Side from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The highway is undergoing a $27 million improvement project by Lindy Paving Inc. from Venture Street in the city to Perrymont Road in McCandless through next spring.
- McKees Rocks Bridge – Routine bridge inspections will cause periodic traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Flaggers will help move traffic across the bridge.
- Route 910 – Work scheduled to begin Monday on the area between Gulf Lab Road and the southbound Route 28 ramp in Harmar has been postponed. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said work to replace crash barriers known as attenuators, which crumple when they are struck by a vehicle to reduce the severity of crashes, will be rescheduled.
- Interstate 79 — Northbound traffic in Robinson and Kennedy will be restricted to one lane from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. The restriction will be just north of the Route 60 Crafton/Moon Run exit while crews do concrete overlay work. The work is part of a $15 million project to upgrade the highway from the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh interchange to one-half mile north of the Route 60 interchange.
