Part of the restrictions around the main road between Rankin and Braddock were lifted on Tuesday, and the rest will be finished before the end of the month.
Allegheny County’s Department of Public Works announced that the Rankin Bridge ramp between South Braddock Avenue and Kenmawr Avenue in Rankin has reopened and a lane closure on Kenmawr between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock also has ended. They have been closed since June 17 as part of the $9.3 million project by Mosites Construction Co. to replace the ramp to Braddock Avenue, the entrance to Braddock’s main street.
The ramp itself, as well as Fleet Street between West Braddock Avenue and Maple Way, Maple between Fleet and Pattison Avenue and Line Street will remain closed until later this month.
The scope of the project includes the new ramp to Braddock Avenue, repairs to a Rankin Bridge ramp and reconstruction of the intersection at Braddock, Kenmawr and Talbot avenues. New pavement, sidewalk, curb, drainage, barrier and guide rail, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signs and pavement markings are among the work.
Mosites will return to the site in the spring and is expected to finish work next fall.
