All the ramps from Rankin Bridge into Braddock are now open until spring.
The Allegheny County Department of Public Works announced Thursday the ramp from Kenmawr Avenue in Rankin to Braddock Avenue in Braddock is open. Additionally, Fleet Street between Maple Way and West Braddock Avenue, Maple between Fleet and Pattison Avenue, and Line Street also are open.
Other streets involved in the project opened on Tuesday.
Mosites Construction Co. has a $9.3 million contract to replace the ramp – which is the main entrance at that end of Braddock — and reconstruct the intersection at Braddock, Kenmawr and Talbot avenues. Work will continue in the spring on the intersection, which will require the closure of the Talbot Avenue ramp from Kenmawr to Fleet Street as well as one lane of Kenmawr from Carrie Furnace Boulevard to Braddock Avenue.
Overall, the project includes new pavement, sidewalks, curbs, drainage, barriers and guide rail, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signs and pavement markings. The remaining work also includes installing bike lanes.
The project should be finished by next fall.
