Just one day ahead of Valentine’s Day, Irvin and Stella, the bald eagle pair nesting near U.S. Steel’s Irvin Plant, welcomed their first egg of 2025. Yes, Stella, not Claire. She is new to the nest and replaced Claire when she left the nest late last year, according to U.S. Steel media representative Andrew Fulton.

Click here for a video of Stella laying the egg on Thursday.

If the egg is viable, it could hatch in as little as 35 days and be the eighth eaglet born at U.S. Steel’s nest.

In 2024 Irvin and Claire hatched and raised eaglet No. 7, later named Lucky.
