The Pittsburgh Union Progress is proud to have learned that it has 10 nominations in the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s 61st Golden Quill Awards, the annual competition that recognizes professional and student excellence in written, broadcast, photographic, video and digital journalism in Western Pennsylvania and neighboring counties in Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.

The winners will be announced at a dinner and program on May 28 at Rivers Casino on the North Shore.

We know that journalists care about this stuff more than most readers do, so we won’t brag about the nominated work (yet), but the photo above is from one of the stories from East Palestine, Ohio, by our Steve Mellon.

Here’s the link to find out about all the nominated media.

Our number/percentage of nominations is not bad at all for a little outlet run by people who currently don’t even get paid to do the journalism.

Thank you for reading and otherwise supporting us.
