Road work doesn’t take much of a holiday this week. There will be restrictions aplenty. Here’s the schedule:

  • Route 28 – The highway will have two restrictions near the Highland Park Bridge this week, one short and the other lasting overnights through Friday morning. Inbound traffic will be limited to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday between the bridge and the exit for Route 8 north. Crews will be repairing fiber optic cable. And lighting maintenance work will cause rolling single-lane traffic in both directions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday morning between the 40th Street and Highland Park bridges. Work will stop Friday night, Saturday and Sunday for the holiday weekend and resume at 9 p.m. Monday.
  • Washington Pike – Single-lane restrictions will occur in both directions of the road as needed between the Interstate 79 interchange and Mayer Street in Collier from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.  beginning Monday and continuing through mid-June. Crews will be conducting drainage work and paving, but work will occur on one side of the road at a time. The work is part of a $5.6 million project to add left-turn lanes at the Washington Pike intersection with Vanadium Road and make other improvements.
  • Coal Valley Road – Traffic will be stopped in both directions for 15 minutes at a time in Jefferson Hills between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday while crews work on a bridge being built above the road as part of the Mon-Fayette Expressway project. The stoppages will be between Route 837 and 885.
  • Route 837 – Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday this week at the Elizabeth Bridge interchange in West Elizabeth. Crews will be inspecting ramps.
  • Boulevard of the Allies – The south bound ramp from Interstate 579 to the southbound Boulevard of the Allies will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday so crews can patch the deck. The work had been scheduled last week but was postponed due to poor weather. Detours will be posted.
  • Route 136 – Lane restrictions will begin at 6:30 a.m. Monday on the Route 136 bridge that joins Rodney Lane and Vaira Lane over Route 51 in Forward. The restrictions will last around the clock through early May while Allison Park Contractors repairs concrete on the bridge.
  • Bridge washing – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will have traffic restrictions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday while crews wash ramps and bridges in three locations. They are: the Greentree Road bridge over Chartiers Creek in Scott; various ramps on Interstate 579 south of the Veterans Bridge in Pittsburgh; and the Parkway West over Banksville Road in Pittsburgh. A fourth location, various Route 65 ramps over Chateau Street in Pittsburgh, will have restrictions from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Gas line work – Peoples Natural Gas has two North Hills projects that will cause lane restrictions beginning this week. Rochester Road in Ross will have single-lane alternating traffic beginning at 8 a.m. Monday between Nocklyn Drive and Sewickley-Oakmont Road for gas line work. The work will be on weekdays until 4 p.m. through April 25. In West View, Route 19 will have lane restrictions just north of the intersection with Bellevue Road. Crews will work on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through late June to replace a gas line.
